H. P. Lovecraft (1890-1937) was an American horror writer, who dedicated his life to literature. He stayed his childhood reading classic books such as Bulfinch’s Age of Fable, The Arabian Nights Entertainments, children’s version of Illiad & Odyssey in his mother’s house. He was also fond of ghost stories, fairy tales, Edgar Allan Poe’s novels, & horror books of other authors. He was reading, writing, rewriting everyday, & creating some weird, strange worlds including his original Cthulhu Mythos with unfamiliar, weird, strange words, such as familiar (witch's assistant), cryptic, dryad, entity, macabre. bizarrerie, aeon, ichor, demented, cyclopean, rapport, fungoid, cormophyte. mutant, celebrant, cadaverous, blight, conclave, & so on. The main theme of his works is fear. On a reason which he observed fear, he noted:
The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.

人間の感情の中で最も古くからあり、最も強く感じるのは恐怖であり、その中でも最も古くからあり、最も強く感じるのは、見知らぬものがもたらす恐怖である。
