Call no one happy before he dies, says Solon of Athens, one of the seven sages of Greece. Always happy is he who knows that he has enough necessities, says an East Asian Buddhist proverb. Happy is the man who finds wisdom & gets understanding, says the Bible (Proverb 3:13). If you have health, you probably will be happy, says Elbert Hubbard. But British EIC officer & economist John Stuart Mill (1806-73) suggests you that you shall not ask whether you are happy. Read his Autobiography (ch.5):
Ask whether you are happy, and you cease to be so.
