“Be responsible for your face!” some people say. What forms your face? We may think that genes from our parents, our living environment & age, form our faces. There was once an American objectivist poet, Charles Reznikoff (1894-1976), who considered about this point from a different aspect. Objectivist poets were the artists who appeared in 1930s in the United States & Britain, & tried to mold their poems as objects to be looked at, with their sincere hearts & bright minds. Charles Reznikoff concluded on what one’s face is made by:
The fingers of your thoughts are molding your face ceaselessly.
「顔に責任を持て」という人はいる。では、顔を形作るのはなんだろう? 親から引き継いだ遺伝子や暮らしいる環境や時代が顔を作ると考えることもできる。かつて、違う角度からこの点について熟考したアメリカのオブジェクティヴィスト詩人がいた。一九三〇年代に米国や英国に出現したオブジェクティヴィスト詩人は、誠実な心や優れた頭脳で詩歌を鑑賞されるオブジェとして作ろうとした芸術家たちであった。チャールズ・レズニコフは、人の顔を形作るのは何であるのかについて結論を出した。
諸々の想念の指がその人の顔を休みなく形作っていく。
