Imaginary Friends, a musical play by Nora Ephron, shows a scandalous feud between Mary McCarthy & Lillian Hellman in the literary world. At a TV interview program Dick Cavett Show, McCarthy attacks Hellman with a straightforward remark:

Every word she writes is a lie, including "and" and "the."
