ギリシャ神話のアンタイオスから。
海の神ポセイドンと地母神ガイアの子で、
北アフリカの巨人であり、誰彼かまわず
旅人にレスリングで挑みかかり、
無敵を誇っていたが、ヘラクレスに挑んだとき、
弱点を見つけられて敗北した。
アンタイオスは大地に触れている間
無敵であったが、ヘラクレスは
巨人を宙づりに祭り上げて打ち負かした。

　[From Antaeus, a giant in the Greek mythology,
　a son of Poseidon and Gaea. He challenged all
　who came across him to wrestle. Everytime he won
　because he was given the invincible strength
　from the earth (his mother: Gaea), as long as
　he was in touch with her. He also challenged
　Hercules but Hercules found his secret.
　He lifted off the giant from the ground
　and crushed him.]
