40 Years Appreciation
It is said that the Turkish coffee house culture began in 1475, soon after the Ottoman Empire Sultan Mehmed II had started to rule Istanbul (Constantinople of the fallen Eastern Roman Empire.) Kiva Han, the 1st coffee shop, was opened by two young Syrians, Hakam of Aleppo & Shams of Damascus. By the end of the 16th century, there were about 600 cafes stood in the capital of the empire. The Turkish people gathered in coffee houses to enjoy SOHBET (chats) with friends & the performance of MEDDAH (storytellers - Compare them with Ancient Sumer narrators, Homer s, druids, Central Asian shamans, Scheherazade s, & RAKUGO-KA.) There is a Turkish proverb that improves that coffee is the very important drink for them:
A cup of coffee is appreciated for 40 years.

四十年の恩
トルコのコーヒーハウス文化が始まったのは、オスマントルコのスルタン・メフメト二世がイスタンブール (滅亡した東ローマ帝国のコンスタンチノープル) を支配し始めた直後の一四七五年だと言われている。最初のコーヒー店キバ・ハンを開業したのはアレッポのハカムとダマスカスのシャムスという二人のシリア人の若者だった。十六世紀の終わり頃までに、帝国の都には六百店あまりのカフェが建つようになっていた。トルコ人は友達とソフベット (おしゃべリ) したり、メッダー (話芸者 - 古代シュメールの語り部、ホメロス たち、ドルイド、中央アジアのシャーマン、シェヘラザードたち、落語家と比較せよ) の演目を楽しむ為にコーヒーハウスに足を運んでいた。トルコ人にとってコーヒーがいかに大切な飲み物なのかを証明することわざがある。

追記
トルココーヒーは、ジェズベ (Cezve) と呼ばれるコーヒーポッドに、細かく挽いた豆と砂糖と水を入れて弱火で煮出したもの。デミタスカップくらいの小さな茶碗に注いだのち、粉が沈んだら、飲む。飲み終わったら、茶碗の底に残ったコーヒーの粉の模様で占いをする。世界無形文化遺産。
