Gertrude Stein (1874-1946), writer & patroness of a lot of artists, wrote and spoke in eccentric ways, & left surrealist quotations to us. She says in her essay An American and France (1936) about her birthplace:
America is my country and Paris is my hometown.
作家で多くの芸術家の後援者であったガートルード・スタイは、風変わりな言辞が多く、わたし達にシュールな名言を遺してくれた。彼女は自分の生誕地について随筆『一人のアメリカ人とフランス』に書いている。
