Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s (1749-1832) 2nd novel Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship (Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre) is a bildungsroman (education novel), which depicts the inner growth of the eponymous hero, who undergoes an odyssey to realize his ideal with passion. In Book 5 chapter 1, Manager Serlo’s opinion on everyday life is written that is probably Goethe's own thought:
One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture and, if it were possible, speak a few reasonable words.
ヨハン・ヴォルフガング・フォン・ゲーテの二作目の小説『ヴィルヘルム・マイスターの修行時代』は、情熱をもって自分の理想を実現するため長くつらい旅を進む、タイトルにある主人公の内面の成長を描いた教養小説 (ビルドゥングロマン) である。第五巻第一章でに、ゲーテ自身の思想であろう劇団長ゼルロの意見が書いてある。
