Much Ado About Nothing

Much ado about nothing is a proverb which derives from the title of a comedy by Shakespeare. Anthony Trollope (1815-1882) , using the proverb, says a nice jocular truth in his novel The Bertrams (1859):

No man thinks there is much ado about nothing when the ado is about himself. 

何もないのに大騒ぎはシェイクスピアの喜劇の題目に由来することわざである。アンソニー・トロロープはこれを応用して冗談めかした粋な真理を自著『バートラム家』に書いている。

自分自身に関わりがある騒動なら、空騒ぎと考える人はいない。
